Photography and AI

Lots has been made over the advent and rise of artificial intelligence generated art. But instead of deriding it, I spent a lot of time thinking about how I could incorporate AI art with my own photography.

Fictional movie poster for “Hemah.”

This image won me a free tutorial off of Fstoppers’ “Critique the Community” web series. The original AI image needed a lot of work and the finished product is hard to even tell it was generated by a computer.

I even worked up a flyer image with AI assets and photographed aerialists.

Then it occurred to me that I could work on AI art in Photoshop to create interesting images perfect for home decor.

But then I started to wonder if I could create scenes in AI and then combine them with photography. The idea would be to create a scene or outfit in AI first, figure out the lighting, shoot the scene myself, then composite the two together. This resulted in a series of images that came out surprisingly cool.

People began asking me about how I went about completing this, so I made a video explaining the process.
