The Front Steps Project
Back at the start of the pandemic, I had the opportunity to do some good for the struggling businesses by joining up and participating in The Front Steps Project.
Started by Kristen Collins and Cara Soulia, the Front Steps Project had photographers going around their city to capture images of friends and families on the front steps of their house, socially distanced, with the idea that they’d donate to a local non-profit.
This idea snowballed and photographers across the country–even across the globe–started up their own Front Steps Project in their own communities.
During these days I was still working full time, though remotely, and had a limited window on when I could help out. But I got some great shots of families and friends outside their front doors and they all agreed to donate to their favorite local business in return for their photos.
As this project began to wrap up, the Front Steps Project got a book deal and many photographers were invited to submit their photos for possible inclusion in the book. One of mine was selected and can currently be seen in this book, published by West Margin Press.
Not only was I thrilled to be included in the book, but it was also the first time I’d been published as a photographer.
